EX2 prides itself on having some of the most racer-friendly set of policies in the industry.  Please read below our policies on race refunds, transfers, deferment, bib transfers; race postponement and cancellations; minimum age requirements, and class/category changes.

Running Race (Backyard Burns, etc.) – Refund/Transfer/Deferment Policy

Refunds are not allowed, but you can transfer your registration to a different EX2 running race according to the schedule below:

  • 14 or more days from an event, you can apply 100% of your registration fee towards another race.
  • Between 5 and 13 days from an event, you can apply 50% of your registration fee towards another race.
  • 4 or less days from an event, no transfers are allowed.

 All transfers must be done via your account on RunSignUp by completing the following steps:

  1. Sign into your profile at RunSignUp.com/Profile
  2. Select “My Registered Races” > Select your event > Select “Manage Registration” > Select “Transfer to Another Race”.
  3. A list of eligible races to transfer to will show up and you can select which race to transfer to.

 Want to transfer your bib to another runner?  This is also done via RunSignUp.

  1. Sign into your profile at RunSignUp.com/Profile
  2. Select “My Registered Races” > Select your event > Select “Manage Registration” > Select “Transfer to Another Runner”.
  3. A transfer fee of $10 is charged to the person doing the transfer.

No year to year deferments are allowed.

XTERRA – Refund/Transfer/Deferment Policy

Refunds are allowed according to the following schedule.

  • 30 or more days from an event, then 100% of entry can be refunded minus a $10 fee.
  • Within 30 days of an event, there are no refunds. 

 All refunds must be requested by emailing info@ex2adventures.com and requesting the refund.

No year to year deferments are allowed.

No transfers are allowed.

 

Cycling Event – Refund/Transfer/Determent Policy

Refunds are allowed according to the following schedule.

  • 30 or more days from an event, then 100% of entry can be refunded with a $10 fee.
  • Within 30 days of an event, there are no refunds. 

 All refunds must be requested by emailing info@ex2adventures.com and requesting the refund.

Want to transfer your entry to another rider?  This is done via BikeReg.

  1. Select Edit/Transfer in your confirmation email or from within your BikeReg account (if you have one).
  2. Enter the email of the person you want to transfer your entry to.
  3. The person receiving your transfer will pay the $15 transfer fee.

No year to year deferments are allowed.

 

Race Postponement or Cancellation

EX2 Adventures reserves the right to alter, postpone, or cancel any race for safety concerns, both natural and man-made. Natural concerns may include, but are not limited to, severe weather (heavy rain, lightning, high winds, snow, tornados, hurricanes, flooding, severe heat/cold). Man-made concerns may include increased security alerts or acts of terrorism. When possible, rain dates will be scheduled.

For cancelled races (races which cannot be rescheduled): a credit for 100% of the registration fee paid will be provided to all racers. Cash refunds WILL NOT be offered.

For postponed races (races which are rescheduled to a different day): a credit of 100% of the registration fee paid will be provided to all racers who are unable to attend a rescheduled race and who notify us by the notification deadline outlined in the postponement email sent to all racers 1-3 days after the original postponed race date.

Cancellation/postponement decisions will be made no later than 6am on race day (often much earlier). This decision will be posted on www.ex2adventures.com, EX2 social media outlets, and a message will be left at 703-338-3965.

 

Minimum Age

Trail Running:  12 Years Old (8-11 years old may run with registered parent or guardian)
Trail running is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 12 years old to participate, without registered parent/guardian, in any of our trail running events. Participants 8-11 years old may participate in our trail running events BUT must race WITH their registered parent/guardian.

XTERRA:  15 Years Old
XTERRA racing is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 15 years old (as of 12/31/17) to participate in this XTERRA race.

Greenhorn Adventure Race:  12 Years Old
Adventure racing is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 12 years old to participate in this race.

VentureQuest Adventure Race:  14 Years Old
Adventure racing is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 14 years old to participate in this race.

Loudoun 1725 Gravel Grinder:  12 Years Old
Gravel cycling is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 12 years old to participate in this event.

Rails to River XC:  12 Years Old
Gravel cycling is physically demanding and involves risks inherent to the sport, including risk of serious injury or death. Participants are responsible for assuring that they are physically fit. All participants are required to complete and sign a waiver and release form and submit this form when registering. Participants under 18 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign this form. Participants must be at least 12 years old to participate in this event.

 

Class or Category Changes

Changes to your class or category are allowed up to 4 days prior to the event.

  • Running events – accomplish this change via RunSignUp.
  • XTERRA – accomplish this change via Active.
  • Cycling events – accomplish this via BikeReg.
  • Adventure races – accomplish this via RunSignUp.

Participants will pay the difference if they change to a category that has a higher registration fee.  Participants will not be refunded if they move to a class with a lower registration fee.
