The Cranky Monkey - Wakefield Course Description

Race #1 - July 29, 2007
One lap (approx. 6 miles/lap)

  • Start @ on gravel road near walking bridge overpass
  • Bike on road south to Bowl
  • Enter Bowl and travel on single track around Bowl
  • Exit Bowl on grass parallel to road heading back toward the power station
  • Take left onto the singletrack trail near the walking bridge overpass.  Exit singletrack trail and skirt power station on your left
  • Head to the trail in woods parallel to powerlines.  Travel over boardwalk area and through Salamander
  • Cross the creek and travel on Phase I trails to Jeep trail
  • Take a left on Jeep Trail and travel to intersection of Creek Trail
  • Take a right onto the Creek Trail and travel to intersection of Jeep Trail near Little River Turnpike
  • Take a right and travel on Jeep Trail to entrance of Phase I
  • Take a left into Phase I and travel towards the Powerlines
  • Enter powerlines and head toward Little River Turnpike
  • Take switch backs and head back toward the RECenter traveling under the powerlines skirting 495.
  • At top of hill, come back around and enter back into Phase I singletrack
  • Complete Phase I (including new boardwalk areas and switchbacks) and travel back out under powerlines.
  • Climb up hill under the powerlines to the top of the bermed trail.
  • Descend bermed trail to the bottom of the hill that is under the powerlines.
  • Cross the creek under the powerlines and travel on trail skirting the eastern border of 495
  • Head up hill toward the power station
  • Complete lap near the walking bridge overpass
