| The Cranky Monkey - Wakefield Course Description |
One lap (approx. 5.5 miles/lap)
- Start at bottom of hill near the Southwest corner of the power station
- Bike uphill then take a left at the top of the hill
- Take the trail nearest the power station to the boardwalk area under the powerlines
- Travel over boardwalk area and through Salamander
- Cross the creek and travel on Phase I trails to Jeep trail
- Take a left on Jeep Trail and travel to intersection of Creek Trail
- Take a right onto the Creek Trail and travel to intersection of Jeep Trail
- Take a right and travel on Jeep Trail to entrance of Phase I
- Take a left into Phase I and travel towards the Powerlines
- Enter powerlines and head toward Little River Turnpike
- Take switch backs and head back toward the RECenter traveling under the powerlines skirting 495.
- At top of hill, head West, ride the rollers then enter back into Phase I singletrack
- Complete Phase I (including boardwalk areas and switchbacks) and travel back out under powerlines.
- Climb up hill under the powerlines to the top of the bermed trail.
- Descend bermed trail to the bottom of the hill that is under the powerlines.
- Cross the creek under the powerlines and travel on trail skirting the eastern border of 495
- Head up hill toward the power station
- Stay on the trail nearest 495 then take the gravel road towards the Bowl
- Continue in this direction until the gravel changes to pavement
- Stay on the paved road until you enter the Bowl
- Enter Bowl and travel on single track around Bowl
- Exit Bowl and go through the tunner, under the Wakefield entrance road to the finish of the lap, in the fields between the softball and soccer field.
- To begin the next lap, continue on the asphalt path south of the soccer field heading toward the CCT.
- Cross the CCT to the Creek Trail.
- Head North on the Creek Trail then cross the CCT near the Southwest corner of the power station and climb the gravel road (race start area).
