Escape the summer city heat and head for the mountains! Join us at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD for the 5th Annual EX2 Off-Road Triathlon on July 13, 2008.
This race course starts with a two lap swim in warm clear waters of a mountain lake. After the swim, racers then head out on a two lap mountain biking course that skirts the lake on twisty single-track trails before heading up the famed Evitt's Revenge. Racers head back to the transition area through a mix of open grassy fields and lakeside single-track. The run has rooty trails, smooth open flats, and one big climb. All in all, this off-road triathlon course is super fun and sure to challenge and excite both the Newbies and Seasoned Vets alike!
The XTERRA EX2 Off-Road Triathlon is one of over 50 points series races held in the United States. Competitors earn points based on their finishing place. Racers use these points to vie for the title of XTERRA Regional Champion thus qualifying for the XTERRA USA Championship held in Lake Tahoe at the end of the 2008 season. Do well at Nationals and take a trip to Worlds... We hear that Hawaii is quite nice in October.
You are going to love this race venue! With its picture perfect beauty, fantastic amenities, large clear mountain lake, and challenging trail network, Rocky Gap State Park offers a stellar venue for this nationally recognized points series race. Rocky Gap has tons to do and is just a 2.5 hour drive from the Washington and Baltimore metro areas. You can make it a family weekend, with camping, a Jack Nicklaus golf course, awesome beaches, plenty of trails, and fishing – everyone will love it! Or you can make it a romantic getaway – there is a fancy lodge on site and plenty of bed and breakfasts located right in Cumberland.
