EX2 wishes you a new year filled with good health, great fun, and excellent experiences – and we can help you make that happen!  With 21 action-packed races planned for 2010, no matter what your sport or ability level, we have you covered.  Trail running, mountain biking, adventure racing, off road triathlon…EX2 has races for everyone.  Registration for all 2010 events is NOW OPEN! This year we are bringing back 18 of our 2009 events, introducing three new races to our lineup, and making some other exciting changes and additions.  Some of these include:  Schaeffer Farms in Germantown, MD will now be home for one of our Cranky Monkey mountain bike races. Very cool! Our summertime Blue Crab Bolt 10K Trail Running Series in Montgomery County, Maryland is expanding with a new race at Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds, MD and the addition of a new points system.    Beautiful Rocky Gap State Park will play host to our new 9 Hours of Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Relay Race on May 15th.  Racers are going to LOVE Rocky Gap for its awesome trail network, fantastic facilities, and gorgeous lake views. Both the Bushwhacker Adventure Running Race and the Rocky Gap Adventure Race are being moved from the Spring to the Fall.  The Rocky Gap AR has also been lengthened to 22-28 miles of paddling, trekking, and mountain biking, taking 4-8 hours to complete. A new 10K course option has been added to the EX2 Off-Road Half Marathon.  Many of our races have SOLD OUT for the past several years so, register today to save money and guarantee your spot on the starting line. A hearty group of trail runners braved cold rain and slick conditions yesterday as we rounded out the Fall Backyard Burn Series at Hemlock Overlook.  Athletes negotiated a rugged and technical course littered with roots, rocks, slippery slopes, and lung busting hills.  Congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge of Hemlock! Results and photos are now posted.  EX2 reached two milestones yesterday – completing our 10th season and producing our 100th race.  Wow, time really does fly when you’re having fun!  We are so grateful for the support of the EX2 Community - racers, volunteers, park authorities, and sponsors.  THANK YOU for joining us on this journey and we look forward to many more years of excellent experiences!

Under beautifully sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures, tons of fun was had yesterday at the third race of the Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Mid-week rain added an extra slippery challenge to a technical course littered with twisty single-track, steep hills, and wet stream crossings.   Congratulations to all the racers who took on this demanding course and a big thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and the Fountainhead park authority for their wonderful support!  Results and Series Point Totals are now posted.  Photos are now posted. The final race of the Fall Backyard Burn series will be held on December 6th Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA.  This race is full and registration is closed but you can still enjoy the day and help make it all happen by volunteering at this event.  Volunteers help at check-in, aid stations, and timing/scoring. They also help as course marshals and with food distribution. Volunteers receive FREE food, a FREE tshirt, $15 off a future EX2 race or $5 off EX2 merchandise, and our sincere appreciation. Plus, volunteering at EX2 races is fun!
