Scott Scudamore
Operations
Scott may be the oldest EX2 staff member but he is the biggest kid around.
Scott started riding at age 43. 15 years and 12 bikes later, he is still riding, racing, and crashing with the best of them. His accomplishments are
impressive...4 broken collarbones, 1 broken finger, a broken zygomatic arch, and tons of cuts and bruises.
Scott comes to EX2 with tons of experience. He has been involved with MTB advocacy for 11 years, 6 of those years on the MORE Board in various positions, including President. Scott helped to maintain and/or build and design portions of the trails at Fountainhead, Schaeffer, Rosaryville, Gambrill, Cabin John, Wakefield, Accotink, Colt's neck, Cedarville, Conway Robinson and Riverbend. He is the current IMBA rep for the DC Metro area.
Scott's first race was back in 1995 at Gambrill State Park on a rigid hardtail. He joined Potomac Velo in 1999 and has helped run their MTB and cross races for over 6 years performing various duties including course designer, assistant race director, announcer, course setup, registration, and awards.
He started racing XTERRA just a couple of years ago and was totally hooked from the beginning. Scott has competed in 16 XTERRA races including the 2007 World Championships in Maui finishing 10th and the 2005 and 2007 National Championships in Lake Tahoe finishing 5th in 2007. He also ended up Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion in 2004.
Scott was one of the first volunteers for VentureQuest back in 2000 where he managed the MTB portion of the event. He has also given MTB instruction clinic to the newbie's before the 2004 VQ. He has competed in two VentureQuest races, the EX2 Off-Road Half Marathon, the Backyard Burn, numerous Cranky Monkey races, and the EX2 Off-Road Xterra Triathlon 3 times.
When Scott is not advocating for mountain biking, training for XTERRA or helping out at EX2 events, he works for Hewlett Packard as a Technical Sales Specialist in Network Storage Systems.
Scott is also a retired Air Force Captain having served over 20 years in the USAF and stationed all over the world, most notably in Germany. In his younger days (31-35), Scott played soccer for a local German soccer club.
One last fact: Scott is a world renowned backcountry chef that makes a mean fresh cut skin on French fry. One of his mottos is 'Fries are me'.
