Kimberly Harman
Co-Owner
Loves Starbucks coffee, long naps (and all other general forms of laziness), birthday cake, laughing with her best friend Renee, and animals. Then I met and married Jim Harman who likes to run 100 miles a day, ride his bike, and wake me up at all hours of the night to get my opinion on canoe lifts and other “challenges” that sound like they could double as some sort of cruel and unusual punishment. If I had a nickel for every time I uttered the words…”seriously, you guys really think this is fun?”
I spend the majority of my day at the D.C. Animal Shelter where I find homes for the 13,000+ stray animals we get in every year. When I first became employed there, Jim and I had one dog and one bird. A year later, we have two dogs, four cats and one bird. (In my defense, two of the cats are foster cats…if anyone wants to adopt one…).
So, that’s our life--racing and animals and lots of fun in-between. I come to as many races as possible and listen intently as Jim talks about race maps/courses/sponsors/website/t-shirts/rain dates/hats/monkeys, etc. He, in turn, wrangles our animals when I am not home, pretends to remember their names by calling them all “buddy”, surprises me with Starbucks coffee and always lets me sleep in on my days off.
