3/6/16 Spring Series - Race #1 - Laurel Hill Park - Lorton, VA

Course Description (5.6 miles OR 9.7 miles)

In the grassy ‘Quad’ of the Workhouse Arts Center, adjacent to repurposed jail cells and abandoned guard towers of the former Lorton Prison complex, racers will toe the line for the Laurel Hill BYB. Located off I-95, just south of the Capital Beltway, this beautiful, fast, and fun race course includes a mixture of forested and open meadow single-track meandering through 1600 acres of the former prison grounds. Race at the Laurel Hill BYB and take a run through time and history.

3/13/16 Spring Series - Race #2 - Pohick Bay Regional Park - Lorton, VA

Course Description (5.65 miles OR 10.05 miles)

We are thrilled to introduce the EX2 community to Pohick Bay Regional Park. Situated on Gunston Cove and adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Gunston Hall, home of Founding Father George Mason, Pohick Bay is steeped in beauty and history. The trails are excellent, the water views are amazing, and bald eagle sightings are common. The moderately technical course includes tight single-track, wide open double-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents. Don’t miss this fantastic new addition to the BYB.

4/17/16 Spring Series - Race #3 - Hemlock Overlook - Clifton, VA

Course Description (5.5 mile OR 10.3 mile option):

Hemlock Overlook, located along the banks of the historic Bull Run, feels surprisingly remote for being so close to Washington D.C. Sightings of deer, beaver, turkey, osprey and great blue heron are not uncommon in this 425 acre park. This challenging race course consists mostly of hiking trails (including the Bull Run Occoquan Trail), old dirt roads, and open fields. Competitors will run over rocks and roots, cross a few streams, and up some hills. The course is designed to be spectator friendly with several areas designated for family and friends to cheer on their racers.

5/1/16 Spring Series - Race #4 - Lake Fairfax - Reston, VA

Course Description (5.0 mile OR 10.0 mile option):

We added the Lake Fairfax course to the Fall BYB series in 2013 and it was in instant hit! This race is a crowd pleaser and has been so well received that we added it to the Spring series. Located in Reston, VA, this suburban park has a lake, huge fields, pavilions, and many newly designed trails. This fast and fun race course includes forested single-track, lakeside trails, and open fields.
