3/5/17 Spring Series - Race #1 - Wakefield Park - Annandale, VA

Course Description (5.5 miles OR 10.0 miles)

Located a stones throw from the Capital Beltway, Wakefield Park offers racers a fast, fun, and ‘mostly flat’ course that includes twisty single-track hiking trails, wide cinder trails, and several shallow stream crossings - a perfect course to kick-off the SBYB series.

3/26/17 Spring Series - Race #2 - Hemlock Overlook - Clifton, VA

Course Description (5.5 mile OR 10.3 mile option):

Hemlock Overlook, located along the banks of the historic Bull Run, feels surprisingly remote for being so close to Washington D.C. Sightings of deer, beaver, turkey, osprey and great blue heron are not uncommon in this 425 acre park. This challenging race course consists mostly of hiking trails (including the Bull Run Occoquan Trail), old dirt roads, and open fields. Competitors will run over rocks and roots, cross a few streams, and up some hills. The course is designed to be spectator friendly with several areas designated for family and friends to cheer on their racers.

4/23/17 Spring Series - Race #3 - Lake Fairfax - Reston, VA

Course Description (5.0 mile OR 10.0 mile option):

We added the Lake Fairfax course to the Fall BYB series in 2013 and it was in instant hit! This race is a crowd pleaser and has been so well received that we added it to the Spring series. Located in Reston, VA, this suburban park has a lake, huge fields, pavilions, and many newly designed trails. This fast and fun race course includes forested single-track, lakeside trails, and open fields.

5/7/17 Spring Series - Race #4 - Pohick Bay - Lorton, VA

Course Description (5.65 miles OR 10.05 miles)

The EX2 community fell in love with the inaugural Pohick Bay BYB course in 2016 and we are thrilled to bring it back in 2017. Situated on Gunston Cove and adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Gunston Hall, home of Founding Father George Mason, Pohick Bay is steeped in beauty and history. The trails are excellent, the water views are amazing, and bald eagle sightings are common. The moderately technical course includes tight single-track, wide open double-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents. Don’t miss this fantastic addition to the BYB.
