9/17/17 Fall Series - Race #1 - Pohick Bay Park - Lorton, VA

Course Description (5.65 miles OR 10.05 miles)

The EX2 community fell in love with the inaugural Pohick Bay BYB course in spring of 2016 and we are thrilled to include it in the Fall BYB series in 2017. Situated on Gunston Cove and adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Gunston Hall, home of Founding Father George Mason, Pohick Bay is steeped in beauty and history. The trails are excellent, the water views are amazing, and bald eagle sightings are common. The moderately technical course includes tight single-track, wide open double-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents. Don’t miss this fantastic addition to the FBYB.

10/15/17 Fall Series - Race #2 - Lake Fairfax - Reston, VA

Course Description (5.0 mile OR 10.0 mile option):

We added the Lake Fairfax course to the Fall BYB series in 2013 and it was in instant hit! Located in Reston, VA, this suburban park has a lake, huge fields, pavilions, and many newly designed trails. This fast and fun race course includes forested single-track, lakeside trails, and open fields. This newer race is a crowd pleaser and a great addition to the Fall BYB series.

10/29/17 Fall Series - Race #3 - Riverbend - Great Falls, VA

Course Description (5.05 mile OR 10.1 mile option):

Racers loved Riverbend in its first two runnings so we are bringing it back for round three. The park lies adjacent to the Potomac River and just west of Great Falls National Park. The course is sweet and includes incredible riverside single-track, challenging hills, and amazing views. We are excited to introduce more trail runners to this special park and hope you will decide to come join the fun.

11/19/17 Fall Series - Race #4 - Laurel Hill - Lorton, VA

Course Description (5.6 miles OR 9.7 miles)

In the grassy ‘Quad’ of the Workhouse Arts Center, adjacent to re-purposed jail cells and abandoned guard towers of the former Lorton Prison complex, racers will toe the line for the Laurel Hill BYB. Located off I-95, just south of the Capital Beltway, this beautiful, fast, and fun race course includes a mixture of forested and open meadow single-track meandering through 1600 acres of the former prison grounds. Race at the Laurel Hill BYB and take a run through time and history.

11/26/17 Fall Series - Race #5 - Fountainhead - Fairfax Station, VA

Course Description (5.0 mile OR 10.0 mile option):

Fountainhead Regional Park is situated along the banks of the Occoquan Reservoir in Western Fairfax County. This challenging race course is beautiful and consists mostly of hiking trails (including the Bull Run Occoquan Trail), horse trails, and old dirt roads. Competitors will run over rocks and roots, through several streams, and up some hills. This course was a new addition in 2006 and became an immediate hit.
