Join EX2 this Saturday, July 31st as we kick-off the second annual Blue Crab Bolt 10K Trail Running Series at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD. This gorgeous 10K race course strings together some of the best trails in the park offering racers awesome single-track and beautiful lake views. Under hot and humid conditions, over 300 racers battled it out at Wakefield yesterday as we kicked off the eighth annual Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series. The course, which incorporated most of Wakefield’s single-track trails including the ‘berms’ and the ‘bowl’, was dry, fast, and fun. It was a great day of mountain biking action! The final two races of the series will take place on August 8th at the Schaeffer Farms Trail System in Germantown, MD, an exciting new addition to the series, and on August 22nd at the ever fun and challenging trail network of Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA. The weather was perfect and the vibe was festive this past Sunday as close to 400 solo and relay racers toed the line at the seventh annual XTERRA EX2 Off-Road Triathlon and Duathlon held at beautiful Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD. The triathlon course included a fun and challenging .75 mile swim in a clear mountain lake, a 14 mile semi-technical mountain biking segment, and a heart pounding 5 mile trail run. Duathletes followed the same course except they began the race with a 3 mile trail run instead of the swim. Congratulations to all athletes for taking on the challenge of Rocky Gap and thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, and park managers for making this event a huge success. Under sunny skies and blazing heat, over 350 mountain bikers hammered out lap after lap yesterday at the fourth annual 12 Hours of Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Relay Race. Held on the challenging trails at the Quantico Marine Corps Base, solo racers and teams of two and three tested themselves to see who could complete the most 9.6 mile laps in a 12 hour period, from 8am-8pm. It was an awesome day of mountain biking action! Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators for making this day a huge success and a special thanks to Maj. Aaron Angell from the Quantico Mountain Bike Club and Bobby Brown and Gary Gutshall from the Quantico Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) for helping to make it all happen. Results are now posted.
