Reservoir Relay was Epic!

Close to 150 adventurous trail runners were treated to unseasonably cool temperatures and beautiful scenery as they negotiated technical and hilly single-track (and a 4 mile section of storm ravaged trail) at the second annual Reservoir Relay Trail Running Race held yesterday in Western Fairfax County.

This race traversed the famed Bull Run-Occoquan Trail and was divided into three linear segments measuring 5-7 miles each.  Solo racers ran the entire 18 mile course and relay teams leap frogged the three segments where the 'active' runner and the ‘on deck’ runner swapped car keys for e-punch key (timing chip).

Thank you to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for helping to make this event a huge success!  It was an epic day out on the trails!

Results are now posted.  Photos are coming soon.

Our next race on Sunday, June 11th is the fifth annual Fountainhead Half Marathon/10K Trail Running Race in Fairfax Station, VA.  This fun and challenging course is a trail runners' dream and its location along the banks of the Occoquan Reservoir has some of the most beautiful and remote-feeling terrain in Fairfax County, VA, only 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C.  We hope to see you there!

Beautiful Pohick Bay Delights Trail Runners!

Close to 300 adventurous trail runners were treated to gorgeous water views and perfectly cool temperatures yesterday as we wrapped up the 2017 Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series at Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, VA. Situated on beautiful Gunston Cove and adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge, the moderately technical course, slick from recent rains, featured tight single-track, wide open double-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents.

Thank you to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and the park management for helping to make this event a smashing success.  It was an awesome day on the trails!

Results are now posted.  Series Point Totals are now posted.  Photos are coming soon.

Our next trail running race is the Reservoir Relay which includes 18 miles of trail running awesomeness in Western Fairfax County. The race traverses the Occoquan Reservoir and is divided into three linear segments measuring 5-7 miles each. Race solo or leap frog the three segments on a 2 or 3 person relay team where the 'active' runner and the ‘on deck’ runner will swap car keys for epunch key (timing chip).  For two person teams, one team member will complete any two segments of the race.  Don’t miss this epic day out on the trails!

The Spring Backyard Burn finale will be held on Sunday, May 7th at Pohick Bay Park in Lorton, VA.  The EX2 community fell in love with the inaugural Pohick Bay BYB course in Fall of 2016 and we are thrilled to bring it back in 2017.  Prepare for an awesome day on the trails as you negotiate a course filled with tight single-track, challenging climbs, and flowy descents.
