Backyard Burn Wraps Up at Prince William Forest Park this Sun, Nov 23rd!

The fifth and final race of the Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series and the final race of our 15th season takes place this coming Sunday, November 23rd at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA.  This park has excellent trails, gorgeous scenery, and a truly remote feel for being only 30 minutes south of Washington D.C. 

This race is sold out and registration is closed but you can still enjoy the day and help make it all happen by volunteering at this event.  Volunteers help with check-in, aid stations, course marshaling, timing, food distribution, course sweeping and course demarking. Times vary from 7am-11:30am and shifts are usually 2-4 hours. Volunteers receive free food, a cool race t-shirt, $15 off a future EX2 race or $5 off EX2 merchandise, and our sincere appreciation. Plus, volunteering at EX2 races is fun!

Trail Runners Tested on Technical Hemlock Course!

The fourth race of the 2014 Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series was held yesterday at Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA.  Racers enjoyed perfectly cool temps and excellent trail conditions as they negotiated a rugged and technical course littered with roots, rocks, and lung busting hills.  Congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge of Hemlock and THANK YOU to all racers, volunteers, the park authority, and our sponsors for helping to make it all happen!

The final race of the FBYB series and of our 2014 season is coming up this Sun, Nov 23rd at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA.  With 15,000 acres, 37 miles of single-track hiking trails, and 21 miles of biking accessible roads and trails, PWFP is the largest park in the Washington DC metro area and a hidden gem that lies just south of the city.  Race or volunteer and come experience the natural beauty and tranquility of this amazing park.

Fun, Fun, Fun at the Windy Wakefield Backyard Burn!

The third race of the Fall Backyard Burn Series was held yesterday at Wakefield Park in Annandale, VA.  Close to 350 athletes endured cold temps and high winds as they negotiated a twisty, fun, and ‘mostly flat’ course.  Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for helping to make it all happen.  It was a wonderful day of trail running action!

Our next FBYB race is on November 16th at Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA. This race is already sold out but you can still join the action as a volunteer. Trail Runners Tackle Challenging Fountainhead!

Adventurous trail runners tested themselves yesterday at beautiful Fountainhead Regional Park as they competed in the second race of the Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Littered with roots, rocks, steep hills, and stream crossings, the technical course at Fountainhead is one of the most challenging in the series.  Congratulations to all the racers who took on this demanding course and a big thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and the Fountainhead park authority for their wonderful support!
