Big Fun at the Fountainhead SBYB!

Big fun was had at Fountainhead yesterday at the third race of the 2014 Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Athletes were treated to brilliant blue skies and pleasantly cool temperatures as they negotiated a rock and root filled technical course littered with twisty single-track, steep hills, and wet stream crossings.   Congratulations to all racers who took on this challenging course and a big thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for their wonderful support!

Results are now posted.  Photos are coming soon.

The final race of the 2014 Spring BYB Series is Sunday, April 27th at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA.  This race is currently over 90% full so register now to claim your spot on the starting line!

Click here to see who is racing in the SBYB4 race.

If you can’t race then volunteer and be part of the action. Volunteers help with check-in, aid stations, course marshaling, timing, food distribution, course sweeping and course demarking. Times vary from 7am-11:30am and shifts are usually 2-4 hours. Volunteers receive free food, a cool race t-shirt, $15 off a future EX2 race or $5 off EX2 merchandise, and our sincere appreciation. Plus, volunteering at EX2 races is fun!

AWESOMENESS at Rosaryville!

Wow, what an awesome time at Rosaryville this past weekend with the running of the second annual 6 Hrs of Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Relay Race on Saturday and the inaugural Rosaryville Off-Road Half Marathon/10K on Sunday.  Riding and running all weekend with fun, energetic, like-minded folks – such good times!

Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for helping to make these events such a wonderful success!

Also, a special thank you to Tom Welsh, the MORE trail liaison, for all he does for these incredible trails.  They were in perfect shape this past weekend, which was hard to believe, considering they were buried under 7 inches of snow only 6 days prior.  Yes, Mother Nature finally loosened her grip over the days leading up to the weekend but those trail conditions were truly a testament to sustainable trail building.

6 Hrs of Cranky Monkey results are now posted.

Rosaryville Off-Road Half Marathon/10K results are now posted.

Photos are coming soon.

Fast and Fun at the Wakefield Backyard Burn!

Athletes were treated yesterday to sunny skies and crisp morning temperatures as they competed in the second race of the Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series at Wakefield Park in Annandale, VA.  As usual, some blistering times were posted on this twisty, fun, and ‘mostly flat’ course, which had been modified to avoid some lingering wet trails.  Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for helping to make it all happen.  It was a wonderful day of trail running action!

Results now posted.  Photos are coming soon.

Our next Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Race is Sunday, April 6th at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA.  There is still some space in this race but it has sold out for the past seven years.  So, guarantee your spot on the starting line and register today!
